Quoting
Edit
When quoting, use the following.
- italics on (two single ticks)
- a double-quote (")
- the quote
- a double-quote
- italics off (two single ticks)
The end result should be written ''"Something like this"'' and look "Something like this"
Templates
Edit
Several templates exist under the link Templates. Insert these template into your page when creating a new page under any of the templated categories by typing {{subst:template name}} and hitting save. You can then edit the page again to fill in the template. For more information see the page about the template to be used.
Linking
Edit
When writing or editing a page, link everything than can be, or should be linked on the first appearance of a term. Do not link subsequent appearances of the term. Don't be shy in making links. That's the power of the wiki.
Capitalizing Titles
Edit
When creating a new page, please capitalize all words in the title, unless the article title matches the title of a novel or other work that follows a different capitalization rule.
Categorizing Articles
Edit
Every article should be categorized. This will aid in organization of the wiki. See Categorization for more information.
General Writing Style
Edit
There are a few things to remember concerning the General Writting Style. First, please use complete sentences. Although the Philotic Web Encyclopedia didn't do this, we should on Orson Scott Card Wiki. So "a nurse who assisted in the removal of Ender Wiggin's monitor" is not acceptable, instead use "Deedee was a nurse who assisted in the removal of Ender Wiggin's monitor". Also, please write in the 3rd person, so avoid using a phrase like "if you were at Battle School, you would spend your time training in the Battle Room". Instead use another wording, albeit this sentence would be hard to put out of 2nd person. Another thing to remember is to write in the past tense, unless other wise necessary. For those of you who don't know what this is, the sentence "Peter Wiggin and Valentine Wiggin are Locke and Demosthenes" is in the Present Tense. "Peter Wiggin and Valentine Wiggin were Locke and Demosthenes" would be in the Past Tense; the verb "are" changes to "were" to indicate Past Tense.
